The importance and advantages of SSL

SSL is an encryption technology that encrypts the connection between web server and visitors’ web browser. It protects your sensitive data as it travels across the internet. If you’ve ever visited a website using https:// in the address bar, you were on a secure SSL connection

Why use SSL?

SSL sends information across the internet in encrypted format so that only the intended recipient can understand it. SSL establishes a secure connection between the visitor’s browser and website. It allows user to send private and sensitive information such as payment credentials, across the internet without having to worry about the problems of eavesdropping, data tampering, and message forgery.

Other benefits from using SSL :

In 2014 Google announced that it would begin to give a ranking boost to SSL-secured websites. SSL also protects against phishing. Phishing emails usually contain a link to the criminal's website, by impersonating a legitimate website. When a website uses SSL it’s practically impossible for criminals to impersonate it with any degree of accuracy.

Yours2Read use one way encryption to protect a website user's credentials.

What is encryption?

Encryption is defined as the conversion of something into code or symbols so that its contents cannot be understood if intercepted.
One-way encryption: one-way encryption is a handy way to encrypt user credentials in databases. This way, even the administrator of the database cannot find out a user's credentials. When a website user enters their credentials to access the system, it's encrypted with the same algorithm which then compares the result with the encrypted credentials stored in the database.
